Somit umfasst die Bibliothek sowohl alle Texte, die jemals auf bis zu 214 Seiten geschrieben werden könnten, als auch unvorstellbar große Mengen an bedeutungslosen Zeichenkombinationen.
In dieser digitalen Version können User selber die Seiten der Bücher durchstöbern, nach konkreten Zeichen- und Textkombinationen suchen oder sich einfach von der schieren Größe einer solchen Textdatenbank überwältigen lassen. Die Library of Babel ist Open Source.

Library of Babel
»The Library of Babel« is a story by Jorge Luis Borges in which scientists search for meaning in a vast library whose books contain all possible combinations of English symbols that are possible on 214 pages. Therefore, this library contains all texts that could possibly be written on up to 214 pages, as well as unimaginably large amounts of meaningless combinations of symbols and letters.
In this digital version, users can search through the books themselves, look for specific strings of text or simply let themselves be overwhelmed by the sheer size of such a database. The library of Babel is open source.
